We’re thrilled to announce that Sapellé’s been selected to feature in the Africa Centre Summer Festival on 3rd August. The Festival will spill out onto the vibrant and historic Covent Garden Piazza, and visitors will feast on the sights and sounds of Africa. It’s a free festival showcasing music, fashion, visual arts, film and more. Participants have been curated by the Nigerian-British artist Yinka Shonibare MBE.
We have to admit that we’re just as excited to be sharing a space with all the fantastic artists such as singers Nneka, Bumi Thomas and The Venus Bushfires – all talented and unique, and representing different faces of African music – as we are at taking part. It’s going to be mad!
The Africa Centre promotes Africa’s cultural and social diversity and showcases dynamic cultural events for Africaphiles. For over 50 years the organisation, based in the heart of London, has been the spirit and soul of African culture for those visiting Africa and the Diaspora around the world.
From Desmond Tutu to Kenneth Kaunda, Wole Soyinka and Sapphire to Ben Okri, there have been thousands of artists and events at the Africa Centre reflecting the breadth of African culture and current affairs. So we’re very proud to be associated with them in what promises to be a spectacular event.
